The posts on Hotel Street were got out without a hitch or time to take one last photo. The best one can do is show short and medium height ones to give an idea of the now hitched out posts of yesteryear.

The now gone posts which ran down the middle of the parking were much taller; some straight and tall while others were tilted to one side or another after having been hit one too many times by the cars of someones or others who themselves had “hit one too many”.

Those posts had character! But now they’re gone.

Don’t it always seem to go. That you don’t know what you got till it’s gone.

Of course the silly question now pops up, “Where to hitch up your horse”. This is downright silly because nobody hitches their horse in the middle of a parking lot.

What replaces the old posts? Cement curbs. Take a look.

Hopefully these curbs have been installed at the appropriate officially regulated height if only to protect the town from the cost of litigious drivers. Litigious drivers who when they leave the bars and restaurants drive straight over the curbs making damage to the underside of their cars.
