Chapter Two Aljibes. A Centuries Old Solution

To us, harvesting rainwater for human consumption, seems an alien concept, but here, in this semi-desert region, with its Moorish past, it is a tradition as old as the hills.

The aljibes constructed in the Sierra are fascinating. So many different designs, and so many ways to overcome the problem of collecting, filtering and storing drinkable water, are to be found, often in the most unlikely places.
